With no wind anywhere nearby, I found myself starting to go a little stir crazy in the office, so I sent an email to Brendan Richards to see what the conditions in Santa Cruz had been like lately.

Ignorance may be bliss, but not at a heavily kited beach or reef break where everyone knows and expects a lot from each other. Wave etiquette is what maintains the peace and maximizes the fun for everyone. The rules of etiquette are rarely written and are usually implied but they most definitely exist, and failure to figure it out before you jump in can get you into some trouble.

Our first impression when unrolling the Spitfire is that this kite is built to take a beating. It’s a five-strut one pump kite with a compact bridle. Both the front and rear bridles use one pulley per side, but Caution uses a unique molded block with no moving parts.

This video just surfaced online and is proof that this wild night really did happen south of the border.

Tonight was Caution fight night, which was a full on Lucha Libre on the beach in front of Baja Joe's. After much carnage, team Precaucion was victorious with El Spitfire and El Zombie winning by playing a little dirty. Capping off the night, one lucky raffle winner went homw with a brand new 2011 Caution Spitfire.

If you are going to be in La Ventana for the upcoming event, make sure you show up for the Caution Fight Night, Saturday, January 22 on the beach. To say it's going to be entertaining would be an understatement.

This being the one part of kite equipment that requires periodic maintenance, the condition of a rider’s main depower line can give you hints about the personality of the kiter.
